About
Stephanie Wright, Ph.D.
Associate Professor, Psychology
Georgia Gwinnett College
Dr. Wright was trained in experimental social psychological theory with additional foci in methodology and developmental psychology. Her work applies models of attribution to judgments of responsibility and intent to intervene in a range of interpersonal and public health environments. In her research lab, she and her students use mixed methods to examine didactic interactions that lead to intererpersonal violence or sexual assault and how the use of gendered language shapes our interpretations of and reactions to those interactions. Pedagogically, she studies the efficacy of utilizing an intersectional approach to core curricula in her program (e.g., Psychology of Women, Lifespan Development, Social Psychology, and her capstone Applied Psychology).
Her radical redesign of lifespan courses led to the development of intersectionality-based case studies that are now distributed by SAGE Publishing, Inc. as Dr. Wright works on a new interactive digital product with the publisher. Her goal is to allow students an immersive experience with case study content in a way that addresses class, race, and sex as co-constructed locks and keys to the developing human's progress across the lifespan.
Dr. Wright is also interested in assisting institutions of all sizes and missions evaluate their approaches to (overcoming barriers to) student success as an indistinguishable component of her scholarship and heavy investment in institutional effectiveness.
